I live in Mississippi and I am wanting to purchase a truck from a dealership in Louisiana and the dealer is charging me 5% sales tax. Ok, will I be charged any thing extra when I go to buy the tag or is there anything else I should know about buying this vehicle out of state as far as fees or taxes? Thanks so much for your help

Why are they charging you taxes??? I thought that was only done when you purchase your tag, title, & tax in your home state/where the vehicle is going to be licensed? they may also try to charge you a document fee - just ask them why they are charging taxes since that should be taken care of in the state of residence for the vehicle and what other fees they plan on chargin... |

Just make sure you get some kind of a temp. license for it. I live in Minnesota and when I bought my truck in AZ last year nobody wanted to give me a license. I guess in AZ you keep your license plates from vehicle to vehicle?? weird... But AZ would not even give me a temp permit, and here in MN you are supposed to get the temp. permit from the state you bought the vehicle in. So needless to say I drove around for about 2 months without any plates or permit... So just watch that...
