Got my SCT w/ custom tunes last night!! I have a couple questions!

I decided to start with the custom street tune. WOW!! What a difference it is absolutely a different truck. Is the custom street tune alright to run on a daily basis without doing any damage? The truck is an 2006 6.0. I do not have an egt guage. Any help is appreciated. I love the tune but do not want to do any damage. Also, the only tune to tow with is the tow tune correct?

How's it going I just got my sct too with custom tunes and I've been running the street tune all week with no guages. When I talked to vivian from dj's she said it was fine to run street all the time just be smart with it. As for towing that's when she said it would be wise to have guages because the truck now is working with a lot of extra power. I'm hoping to get guages next week and the studs in a couple months. But congrats on the sct it really wakes these beasts up

It just seems...

That it cant be real good on the motor to gain all of that power. Why would they not program it that way from the factory?

You will only want to tow with tunes designed for Towing.

also... EGTs become very important to monitor when towing or pumping a lot of power like these tunes do.

Get Gauges first. EGT's can kill even a stock engine so imagine what it can do to an engine that has been programmed for more fuel which typically creates more heat.

If your egt's (exhaust gas tempetature) get too high say 1400* you gotta worry about melting stuff. Id say under 1200* constantly youd be safe. Definately get some gauges if your towing

it's how hot the exhaust gas is that is coming out of the driver side cylinders. you can only tow with a tow tune up to a certain weight. after you exceed that weight you want to tow stock. IMO, all this power is not good for the motor and it will drastically limit the life of the motor and if you want a 6.0 that will last a very long time keep it stock and be crazy with maintenance.
