Anyone run a 6.4 and won or at least hold their own?

Just wondering with all the mods available now for the 6.0 if we can keep up with a tuned 6.4, with the basic mods of course, like a tuner, cold air intake and exhaust.

with enough mods sure you can but if both just had the basic 3 the 6.0 wouldnt stand hardly a chance. youre talking about old school HEUI tech vs common rail compound turbo tech with more displacement.... no contest.

Yeah I know, but with the MTW turbos and with bigger injectors and the other mods I'm reading about be with the hp #'s I'm seeing in the 500's and 600's with the 6.0 I'm thinking it would be one hell of a race.

I've got a friend with a 08 6.4 with basic mods. Studs, intake, exhaust, deleted, Suncoast trans, spartan tuner. And both of our trucks are on 35's and are crew cabs. We've raced numerous times from rolling starts (he has something broke in his front end so no 4wd launches) and they are literally neck and neck. On bottom end my 6.0 actually pulls just a touch but after 80 he starts reeling me back in slowly and passes me around 100-105ish. That's with him running the spartan 350 tune and me on the SPD w/ early lock up. I'll try to find some videos when I get to my computer

The 350 tune felt slower than the 310el on my wife's truck. Smoked way more too.

The capability has always been there, just very expensive to do so.

I got home and searched my computer but couldn't find the videos. I'm guessing it got lost somewhere between the hard drive swap. Anyway, I'll text him today and see if he wants to meet up in a little bit and race lol.

a deleted 6.4 with a good custom tune such as gearhead is going to be hard to touch in even a moderately modified 6.0

I've ran down some d-maxs, but I haven't raced a 6.4 yet.
