Rebuilding/upgarding stock 2005 turbo DIY???

I was wondering if anyone has rebuilt their stock turbo at home while also upgrading the compressor and turbine wheels?

Also who makes good upgraded wheels including the turbine?

Will an 03 turbine wheel fit in a 2005 turbo without a problem?

I plan on keeping the truck with stock sticks, just hot tuning and exhaust.

I don't think there is many options for upgraded housings because most companies take a turbo, upgrade the housing, stick an upgraded wheel in it and sell the complete package. I believe ATS sells an upgraded housing. Have you just looked into a mad turbo werks turbo? He sells them for under $1000 complete.

I plan on just upgrading the wheels on an 03. I got one cheap. Who makes upgrades for the compressor and turbines?

Also is there a manual for rebuilding these turbos?

Rebuilding the 6.0 VGTurbo - Ford Truck Enthusiasts Forums
That should answer part of your first question.
As for the turbine wheel, I haven't seen one yet. For the compressor side, dieselsite and MTW have billet wheels between $230-$250 I believe. A company called XSboost also offers a drop in billet wheel for $200. I'm looking for a core to rebuild and have machined to (hopefully) fit a powermax billet wheel so that could be another option for you, with a little more research.
