Finally Installed the 03 Turbo

Well after seeing Nate's truck all tore apart and a sweet turbo going in I decided I waited long enough. Went home got started around 8:30 and had her runing around 11:30.

Install went great, took our time and learned alot about the different components on the motor. Only snag was the AFe intake, the box is just so big that we had no other choice but to take her out along with the coolant bottle, just made things easier to work around.

I am very pleased with the end result. Once the truck warms up the turbo whistles pretty good at a stand still but once you touch the pedal sounds like a jet plane. I am so glad I went the 03 route.

Here are a few pictures I took during the install, nothing fancy, just some to show ya what we were working with.

Yea I know. I was hoping to get her done there at the shop on Saturday but I didn't want to interupt Nate's install, those guys were rolling right along pretty good.

3 hours for someone whos never touched a turbo swap? Not bad, not bad at all!

I luckily had someone who's done a swap (Maintain, although he never did a 6.0 turbo till mine! ).

Yep! We were all down there at Matt's and watched how Nate's came off and then just remembered what we saw and went for it. We started by taking out the intake, then degass bottle, unbolted the clamps for the Y-Pipe and down pipe, losened up the downpipe, unbolted the three bolts that hold the turbo to the pedestal, wiggled her out, then the four for the actual pedestal and then went back in reverse order lol.
