You can swap an 03 in no major mods, just have to replace the pedestal that supports it also. Different mounting.

I got mine from IDP, not a normal item he carries, got it just for me. But, they pop up on eBay and other places. 300-500 seems to be the average and about 200 for a pedestal from Ford. I have the part numbers from Ford if need be and a hardware kit ($8) that makes it nice as it provides new o-rings and and the nuts and bolts you'll need.

And running the same tunes, I gained 4lbs boost and felt like a stronger, smoother spooling.

Thanks for the information. Def. sounds like a good choice. I'll be looking around and see what pops up here in the near future. The trucks on 40' XTerrains but when the tires wear out I'm seriously thinking of dropping to 2" leveling kit with 33' tires. Fuel prices to expensive and want to be safer and faster. Thats why I'm looking for the 03' turbo and put with a custom tune with the sct. May take a while but hopefully everything will work out over time. Thanks again for the help.

Sure thing, that's one reason we are all here!

Let me know when you're ready, and I can send you the P/Ns you might need.

For sure... I'm hoping to get it done here soon. If you want to get me the part numbers and whatever else I'll to help with Ford right away I can just write it down and keep it in my truck that way its ready when I am. If not thats cool also. Let me know.

Don't get me wrong.....I'm all about modifying vehicles but it sure seems like alot of hassle to swap to an older turbo just to get a louder whistle. I have an 03 truck so it doesn't really mean alot to me but is there anything actually better about the 03 turbo or is it just the sound?

As I understand it, the '03 Turbo has only 10 blades on the exhaust side where as an '05+ has 15. Therefore the '03 Turbo flows more CFM of air and creates about 2-3 more pounds of boost pressure. It may not be a huge difference but the '03 Trucks consistently run 1-3 tenths faster in the 1/4 mile from what I've seen with a good SCT Race Tune and Exhaust.

Billet's got it.

I have seen 4 lbs more boost with the 03 over my 07 turbo. And it feels like a faster, smoother spool up.

I look at the 03 as a step up from the 05+, but not as big of a step as say a Hybrid.
