New turbo

Well I keep getting Pm's asking what this power max on steroids in my sig was, so let me just talk about it for a minute. As a lot of people know I've been sold on the power max since I bought mine in 2010. After installing 175/75 injectors I wanted more air to make the haze go away at low speeds like 0-50 mph. So I did some searching on google of different turbo re-builders, contacted a local shop called turbo city and they didn't wanna touch this turbo. So I stumbled across a site called Barder turbo located out on the east coast and asked how can I make my truck run cleaner. So I didn't want to have any down time so I just had James at Barder build me a 68mm off of a brand new power max. He put a slightly larger turbine wheel clipped down to a 70x72.5 a stock power max is 66.5x72.5 somewhere in that ball park. So after a week I get the turbo. Bolt her up and started it up. After start up the truck sounded instantly different. Idle is way smoother and quieter. Took it for a drive on a stock tune/2 street tunes and 3 race tunes. No surge at all. My max egts at wot went from 1440 to 1350 with this turbo change. I did a few wot runs from a 20mph roll and with the power max it would spin from 20-40mph, the Barder turbo with the same 20mph roll spins from 20-55 and at that point I'm at the point of losing control. I haven't noticed any lag driving around the city, if anything there is a split second lag when your in 6th locked going 45mph but that's something that can be fixed in tuning on the trans.
The turbo I recieved was a brand new turbo balanced with a 360 thrust bearing. I'm loving this turbo like you wouldn't believe. The whistle is amazing and the truck hauls major azz. Thought this would be faster than replying to 30pms.
Dyno to come soon on the same dyno the truck laid 581 hp on with the power max.
Max boost I've seen has been 38 with a ebp reading of 37.

That sounds awesome man...especially with those injectors. I like that boost/ebp ratio. Does it have a billet compressor wheel?

Ya the ebp was a shocker. I'm gonna try a 71mm with the same mod here soon.

I'm gonna ship him a turbo to get a compete overhaul. My original power max is 3 years old so I'm gonna have a full re build and a larger thrust installed and balance it so its like a brand new turbo. It may be laggy but may not be due to my added air flow. Well see. If I can get my wot egts down to the 1200s I'd be stoked.
