Can you use quiet and performance exhaust in the same sentance?

I have a 2005 Excursion, it is my tow vehicle for family camping trips. After a STC failure, I am doing a modest build (ARPs/ 175s / pmax turbo / etc.) and I am thinking that I really should do an exhaust system. I was considering a stainless 4" MBRP w/o CAT.

The issue is that my wife pretty much has the sudden onset of turrets syndrome when she hears my car's loud exhaust system. In the interest of avoiding the high cost of a divorce, is there an exhaust that will give me added HP/lower EGTs/Better MPG without being too much louder that stock? I don't mind a moddest increase in sound, but I do not want it to be too noticeable when the fam is in the truck and I am pulling the 10K lb trailer up a hill...

Help!

yeah you can. My magnaflow system was pretty quiet. At first I installed without the cat, but with the muffler. Wasn't loud enough for me haha. So I removed the muffler. But if you keep the cat and muffler installed...it will be really quiet if you like it that way.

I'm with Chris, I love the magnaflow exhaust. It is expensive but man they sound great and the mufflers are straight through.

Another fan of the Magnaflow. I first put mine in with no CAT and the muffler installed. It was too quiet for me except when really heavy on the throttle so I took the muffler off.

Does the Magnaflow system have a cat delete pipe and muffler delete pipe that can be easily swapped in and out like the MBRP? Sounds like it does....

Leave the cat and muffler on for her. Then get you a electric cutout for when she is no around. Had one on my trans am, it was nice and quiet when the police was around.

FWIW the Banks system on my truck sounds pretty good...not too loud. The fitment is good and after 80K miles...no rust on the system and no leaks. Still have the cat on for now.
