Air Intake, Exhaust
I'm going to be getting an Air Intake system, exhaust, and a chip for my 05 F-250. what are some of the better Intake and exhaust systems that all of you are using. I don't want to spend a ton of money but don't want to spend too little and get something thats not good. So just something thats going to do good and not break the bank.

Save some money and just get a good quality drop in filter and do the zoodad... Plenty good for 500hp.... Exhaust... As long as its 4" straight pipe or a muffler it dont matter what brand and thats all you need....

your stock intake will flow more than enough air for a programmed truck until you hit the 450hp+ range..... go with a 4" TB exhaust and a SCT xcal 3 tuner... and dont forget about gauges... pyro, trans and boost
let me know if you have any questions -Raul |

Raul- what do u think about buying a used sct tuner. i know a guy that is selling a sct xcal tuner that was on his 05 F-250. he just bought a new 08 so it wont do him any good. he's asking 300 for it. would that be a good deal to jump on or should i just go new.

I suggest looking at the MBRP exhaust systems. They have a provision to keep the factory cat. You can also get the optional cat-delete pipe if you want to go that route. This way, you will be able to bolt it back in for inspections/dealer visits etc.
As far as intakes go, I suggest S&B. No intake will help your peak HP numbers, but they will help throttle response and mid range power. S&B has great flow and filtration numbers and are also priced right. Let me know if Ic an help with anything. |

I'll second that, you can get a new xcal 3 with custom tunes for a little over $400.

Just would like to know if I should go stainless steel or aluminum exhaust? cat back or turbo back? Thank you Jim

I suggest turbo-back. Less back pressure, quicker spool up, and lower EGTs. I also suggest stainless as it comes with a lifetime warranty.
