Superchips 1704 tuner Question-

Hi Folks-

I bought a Superchips 1704 tuner on Ebay real cheap. I programed my truck with "economy" tune hoping to conserve $ome fuel. After being impressed by the power gains even in the mildest settings I couldn't help not to boil the tires in first and second a few times. However, one time I ran through the gears and when it shifted from 3rd to 4th, it acted as though it misshifted- like it went into neutral or like the torque converter was slipping. It sat on the rev limiter for a second or so untill I could get my foot off the pedal.

Has anyone ever experienced this rev limiter / eratic shifts? This is only the mild setting???

I have owned my 05 CCSB 6.0 auto PSD w/MBRP cat back since new and I have 40k miles on it now with no major problems.

I know...don't mess with the superchips stuff, just go for the SCT. But I don't really care about making more power, I heard superchip 1704 gives you up to 3 more MPG.

If this 1704 makes my trans slip again, it's going back to the stock tune and the programmer is going right in the trash.

I didn't have any issues till recently with my truck and I'm running the new cortex programmer. I'm going to put it back to stock tomorrow and see if it keeps doing it. Luckily I didn't pay for mine. I'll keep you updated, but I've been running the program for 4 months now and it just started doing it, so i have a feeling its something else.

people say go with the other better custom tunes cus they are programmed to work with your tranny too not just the engine like that 1. very common.

The cortex has an engine file and a tranny file though. so doesn't that mean its working with both?
