Used SCT tuner

I just bought a used SCT tuner from a friend, the tuner is loaded with three custom tunes from MKM Customs. Both of our trucks are set up very similar , 2005's , 4" straight pipes, studded heads, deleted egr cooler, cold air intake. How safe will it be to run the tunes prepared for his truck on mine ?

you need to check the strategies for both trucks.
if they are the same out good to go.
if not you need to have the tunes rewritten or buy new ones

Shouldn't be a big deal and it doesn't matter about the strategy since they are both 05's and use the same series of strategies. Tuners write tunes based on different strategies than currently on the truck. Loading a new tune is like re-flashing the truck. It will now have whatever strategy the tuner used for his base file..

thats interesting but makes sense.
I just always thought the tune went with the strategy.

As for who and where to go for tuning.
I have Matts tunes at Gearhead Performance which I like and use the SRL+ every day.
I also have some of innovative's tunes which are good and work well too.

There are a few more tuners around that people seem to like.
Just poke around the forum and you will get an idea of where and what to get

Yeah, as long as it is the right family VXA=03, VXB=04, VXC=05-07 they should run. You can't cross load across families though.

That's why you don't really need to roll back your strategy if you run custom tunes. All the tuner has to do is build the tune using the strategy you want and you have it. Rolling back the strategy would only affect the stock tune.

Tony Wildman is writing some very nice tunes for the 6.0. He is having some serious family issues with his daughter on her last days right not so he may be a little hard to get a hold of right now, but his customer service is excellent and the tunes nice.
