Factory exhaust wrap?

I just ordered a MBRP 4" TB kit. I went out and was looking at my factory exhaust figuring my plan of attack. I noticed my downpipe has a factory (ford logo all over it) heavy tin foil looking exhaust wrap. I have read a few install reports and never seen anyone mention theirs having it. Should I pick up some header wrap for my new downpipe? Or does everyone just leave it naked?

that foil looking stuff is BS. I cut my stock down pipe off with a sawsalls. I would imagine 99% of guys are running a "naked" down pipe. I know I am and like 5 of my friends all do as well.

you can take it off, it was meant to reduce heat to that area and have some noise reduction properties too. it wonr hurt anything to remove it!

And get ready for the fun of loads of fiberglass comming off it into your face. It is really fine fiberglass,, worse than the typical "batt" type insulation.

I recommend you wear gloves when you take that stuff out. It itches like crazy.

that stuff sucks!! definately wear gloves and glasses. stuff itches worse than insulation, and like chris mentioned, is very fine. good luck with the install

My 04 did not have any of that wrap on it.. so i figger that ford thought it was not needed
