Fuel pressure gauge

I'm looking at getting a fuel pressure gauge for my 06 6.0. Do I have to install an aftermarket sending unit or does the truck have one that I can get a reading from the ecm? If it takes a sending unit to be installed where does it tap into?

The fuel pressure test port is located on the secondary housing right next to the oil filter. You can take it in and have it checked or put a gauge on it yourself. If you order a gauge, it should come with the sending unit which plugs into the fuel pressure test port.

So do you run a fuel line to the gauge in the truck or do you use an electrical sending unit and run wires? Where does everyone get this stuff from?

ISSPRO and Autometer seem to be the most favored. Glowshift is another gauge manufacturer but some have had bad luck. Google/EBay them or check with some of the vendors here on the org. Each gauge should come with all necessary hardware, but double check before your purchase.

You will need a m12x1.5 to 1/8npt adapter for the test port. Strictly Diesel sells a sender relocation kit that resolves clearance issues with the radiator hose.

I would definitely not run fuel to the cab. Keep it as isolated to the fuel bowl as possible.
