SCTx3 tuner

I'm getting ready to pick up an SCT3 tuner for my 6.0 ! I've been watching youtubes and notice most if not all the trucks spull black smoke when taking off ! Is this going to happen with my truck and SCt preloaded tunes ?

Need more info, to properly answer that questions. If you are purchasing a tuner with the precanned tunes - they will smoke. Contact one of the custom tuners that are all over this website. Give them all the specs on your truck and what you want your truck to do and they will get you their as smoke free as possible. They build tunes for your specific truck and mods.

I put mine on street when I first got it and saw zero smoke.I never put it on performance so not sure if it smokes on that tune,I'm assuming it will probably.Even with my powermax on stock sticks it doesnt smoke at all. However some trucks act differently I suppose.

I'm currently running street tune. It only has a slight haze during WOT.

canned tunes are no where near what a custom tuner can do for your truck... dont waste your time on canned tunes... go custom and never look back.

Canned tunes aren't worth a crap. Get a custom tune and don't look back. Otherwise you're wasting your money on the tuner.

I'm only running the canned tune for now. Next month I will be getting some custom tunes. A couple unexpected expenses came up, so I can't spend any more money....

My truck has a 4" straight pipe, ARP studs, no egr cooler, stock air filter, no lift, 2" taller then stock tires. I pull a boat about 4500lb and drive the Hwy's to work and thats it for now. What I'm looking for is the best performance I can get out of the truck and better fuel consumtion if possible what will I pay for a custom tune for my truck ?

I agree that the canned tunes are a BIG waste of time as a while back I bought a used tuner just to get rid of the CEL due to a deleted EGR and it also had a couple custom tunes on it. One day I tried the "performance" canned tune then later loaded the custom "performance" tune and it was like I turned on some afterburners with the custom tune. Most places will charge more for the first tune and around $50 for every tune after that.

You can normally get a pack of 3 for around $100. A few tuners charge about $40 for single tunes. But there are those that charge closer to $80 for the first tune, and then less later. Depends who you buy it from.
