If you do the strategy rollback, I believe you will need new custom tunes...

Just send the FICM and have the Atlas 40 installed. Doesn't sound like you really need the other FICM tunes. As for the Strategy roll back, if you run your truck with the stock tune this might be an advantage. Otherwise the tuner can base tune on whatever strategy you want.

I bought the tuner and have no regrets. It gives me the flexibility to change when and/or as needed. The tunes will cause an increase in Egt's so if I was towing a heavy load or steep pass I wanted the option to drop it back down. It is also nice to experiment using the Econo, 40, 80 and Herc. with my different tunes. Once you program w/o the tuner you are stuck with the good and bad of it unless you either wait again or God forbid go to the dealer. I much prefer to retain as much control and options as possible.

I like mine but....I rarely change tunes. I generally leave mine on the Atlas 80. I am currently showing 17.9 mpg on my trip computer. My last few tanks have hand calculated at around 16 mpg.

The "Lie-o-Meter" says I am averaging around 15 mpg but I have my foot in it a lot too. The best I saw was on a trip to Oregon at 19.5 mpg with the Atlas 40 all highway and cant remember which custom tune. Memorial weekend I averaged 13 mpg with a camper in the bed and trailer behind that pulling a very steep and long mountain pass. That was running IDP's Tow tune and the atlas 40. But that's the beauty of owning the tuner you can tweak it until you find the sweet spot which will be different on all trucks
