FICM Changes negate tuning????
Well, I ran into another unforeseen problem. I got studs put in last week under warranty, and they also loaded the new computer program to help with cold starts. However, I have heard it also locks out the FICM. Well a fiend sold me his programmer to try on my truck and I loaded it up. It didn't give near the power that it gave him. We have the same model year, etc... except his had the older program strategy and mine had the newest one. No codes when installed and I checked afterwards and it threw a U0306 code. I searched for it and it came up with a "Software incompatibility with fuel injector control module". That seems to reinforce the rumor that Ford locked out their FICM system from programmers making them less effective. Does anyone know how to get around it or what I can do? I am guessing I would have to get them to flash the older strategy onto the computer for the programmer to work to its full potential... Please Help!!!

Sounds like you need to contact the tuner manufacturer and get it updated to the new flash. Some, like the Superchips 1704/5 have to be sent back to the manufacturer and others like the Diablosport Predator often update online. Depends on the unit. As far as Ford "locking out the FICM", I have no idea, not heard of such.
