Used programmer, need your thoughts...

I have a friend that just sold his 05 SD 6.0 Harley Truck and has his programmer still. It is a Hypertech programmer with three levels of tune. I think the top one is supposed to be like 115 HP or so. He is only asking $75 for it so it is a killer deal I think as long as the tunes are safe for the truck...

I really like the SCT stuff, but for $75, I could run this one for a year or so until I can save up for the SCT. I just want to make sure it is safe for the truck as i don't have a lot of experience with Hypertech. I have heard they usually give good MPG gains, but the power and shifting is not as good as the SCT.

What do ya'll think?

I dont have any experience with hypertech from what I hear SCT is the safest on your trany...If I was you I would hold out for your G.W.Bush rebate...Heres a bump anywho...

I don't think I have heard anyone who had a problem with the hypertec unit. Heck even if you only get 1mpg better it would pay for itself pretty quick these days.

Thats what i was thinking. I would recover $75 pretty fast with a 1 to 2 mpg improvement.

I just calculated it all out. It would take 6.5 tanks of fuel to pay for itself. Not bad at all...

I will probably pick it up tomorrow as long as I don't find anything really negative about them today in my research. I will do a quick write-up about it in this thread if I do end up getting it.

I also have no personal experience with that tuner. I am a SCT lady, but I will bump this for you. Surely someone will help ya out.
