Looking for turner info

Hello,

New here, just signed up please excuse if this is not the right place to post. I have a 06' supercab with a 6.0L, right now it is all stock. I have wanted to get a flash tuner to bump up the HP but have been afraid because of the warranty. From what I have read the SCT livewire looks like the choice of tuners but can you return to the dealer without them knowing it was re-programmed? The owners Manuel says the OBDII system can or may retain information that the truck was reprogrammed and void the warranty. I know to reprogram to stock before going to dealership but will they be able to tell?

Not looking to pour a smoke screen or burn the tires off, just looking for more power when I want it and maybe a little better MPG if I keep a lightfoot. What do you guys recommend as far as moderate modifications besides the SCT that don't cause warrant issues?

Thanks

Sounds like you are on the right track. I would recommend a 4" turbo back exhaust before you get the tuner so the egt's are kept in check. There are two different SCT models, the X3 or the livewire. The live wire has the gauges built in but it is more expensive. You can usually run an X3 and a set of analog gauges for a little bit less.

I think everybody is nervous about the warranty when they first consider a tuner. With SCT you should be fine with the warranty. It takes a real aggressive prick who is just looking to make a name for himself to cause you problems with a flash tuner. I felt the same way as you at first but after having my SCT for over 7 months and 10,000 miles I don't lose any sleep over the warranty.

The livewire has it's share of issues but overall is a nice unit. I would strongly recommend Innovative Diesel for the tuning. Look around the site and you will quickly see plenty of results proving that Eric is perhaps the top tuner for a 6.0 diesel!

Hi,

Basically any tuner that flashes the PCM can be detected. Interestingly, Ford does not train the techs on how to detect it. Also the dealer would need to prove that the tuner actually caused whatever issue you have with the truck.

Some techs/dealers, who don't want to work, don't know how to fix your problem or because their warranty is already too high, will pick on your exhaust or gauges. I have heard some horror stories but I have also heard many good stories of helpful dealers.

My suggestion is go to the dealership and ask to speak with the tech. Ask him about maintenance. You can ask his take on tuners and if you can, form a rapport with the technician. If he works on your truck and does a good job, a tip will make him remember you later

We're SCT custom tuners. Let me know if we can be of service.

Thanks,
Vivian
