SCT X3 Questions
OK - I unwrapped my XCAL3 today and started playing with it. I checked it's firmware, and it appears to have the latest stuff (according to SCT website). So I go to the truck to get the strategy (which worked fine) and thought I would go ahead and load one of the pre-programmed tunes. It all seemed to work OK, but I never got to a point where I had to pick one of the 3 tunes - it just went ahead and went through the stock download and tune upload sequences. I am guessing I should have said 'yes' to the User Adjustable Options and I would have been able to choose 1 of the 3 tunes - I'll try that later. My 1st question is - what tune did I download to the truck? Is there a way to use the X3 to see what is currently loaded in the truck?
Also, how do I go about copying my stock tune to my computer? I plugged the X3 in to the computer (before using it in the truck) and it seems to work fine. I just never saw an option for transferring the stock tune to my computer for a backup. BTW - I have dropped an email to Bill at Dfuser, but guessing it will be tomorrow before I hear back from him. Thanks, Chris |

OK - I get it....
Nevermind on the first questions - I went into the User Adjustable Options and now I understand how that works.
Still would like to know how to move the stock tune to my computer, though. Chris |

you have to download the livewire updater software from sct. once you open that up with the x3 hooked up to the computer there should be a button that says get stock file. It should be pretty easy to figure out from there.

Hi,
This is a sticky in this forum: How To Save Your Stock File With An SCT Check out the other stickies too. They'll give you a little bit of information so you can familiarize yourself with issues others have found. Thanks, Vivian |

Thanks, Vivian. I will check out the stickies. Once you unwrap one of these dudes, kind of hard to have the patience to sit at a puter downloadin' stuff. Much rather be changing around a few electrons to see what the truck has in it. I appreciate the help.

SCT & Stock Tune Retention
Hello everyone. Been reading the threads. Just got my SCT X3 with pre-loaded tunes. GOing for a custom tune soon but have a question reagrding stock tune and getting it prior to uploading one of the pre-loaded tunes. IS the only way to get the stock tune off the truck with the X3 by uploading the new tune. Iread somewhere that the X3 downloads the stock tune to the device prior to uploading the new tune. In this way one can re-load to stock whenever. And that once the device has downloaded and saved the stock tune one can download to their PC. I was concerned about the possibility that the stock tune may become corrupted on download to the device or even fail to download properly and then I wouldn't have a way to restore the stock tune. Any danger here? Was wondering if one could download the stock tune PRIOR to uploading the new tune to ensure that the stock tune is saved somewhere.
