Less Smoke

Just wondering if blocking off the EGR will cause less black smoke. I don't seem to have as much smoke with the chip turned up. Runs fine, just would like more smoke.

it doesn't affect the amount of smoke at all. If you want more smoke, lose the 6 gun with pbj monitor and get a xcal with a smoke tune. I'm confused though, do you already have the cooler blocked off or not?

I don't know for sure now. I have read where guys are going to block off the EGR and then I see where they are blocking off the cooler. Is there 2 things I need to do? All I have is the EGR block off plate that goes inside the tube. I'm not real familiar with the EGR systems. When I first put the 6 Gun on, it blew a lot of black smoke with it set on SL. I was thinking of buying and SCT. Just don't want to spend the money yet.

you can turn the egr valve off in the closed position and/or block off exhaust gases from entering the egr cooler via your block off plate. right now your egr valve opens and closes and hot exhaust gases are entering your egr cooler.

I don't have the ability to shut the EGR valve off with the 6 Gun. Am going to buy an SCT but can't yet. If I unplug the EGR would that work, and would the truck still run okay?

yes and yes but I wouldn't recommend that you unplug it.

What do you recommend until I get an SCT? I don't want problems. I just had the headgaskets, cooler, turbo and 3 injectors replaced. Don't want to go through it again.

Anybody have any suggestions on how to keep the EGR valve from opening until I can get the SCT? Don't want to hurt anything. Appreciate any info.

it's not that big of a deal. I don't ever notice a difference between it being on or off.

sry I missed this post. I recommend you just run it, if it isn't giving you problems now then there is no big deal IMO, for the injectors, I'd install itp's or dj's fuel kit to ensure enough fuel to every injector...especially the ones at the end of the line.
