Exhaust

Well, I can't seem to make up my mind on what to do about an exhaust... Anybody know the best way to go when lookin for a 4 in straight pipe. First off how long do you guys think an aluminized will last in illinois? We get quite a bit of snow which means salt. Is it worth buying aluminized or am i only gonna get a year or two out of it? Which leads my to my next question, Where is a cheap place to buy a straight pipe( or should i just buy a down pipe, some 4 in pipe, some fittings and hangers, and weld it up myself?)

I know its not a very specific question, so any help would be good, but i'm gonna need to do something with the exhaust very soon to get the egt's down before summer comes!

Thanks guys..

All 4" straight pipes are the same, buy from where ever you get the best deal. I have aluminized and there is no surface rust on the pipes. I have had it on for a year now but I live in Maryland and we don't get a lot of snow.

If snow/salt is a regular occurence...get the SS, it'll be worth the extra money.

I have the MBRP Cool Duals straight piped..love the sound.

Yeah i know all 4" is the same sound and performance, just wondering if alum. will hold up or not.. And where i might find the best deal
And i would like to go with the stainless but it seems rediculous to me to spend 450-600 dollars on a stainless exhaust, just to get it home and cut the muffler out right away. So if anybody knows where the cheapest place to buy a 4" stainless (409) straight pipe( that fits and installs nice with no rubbing or moving) is , i would appreciate your opinions.

Thanks again

I bought the MBRP about 2 years ago. I live in CT where we get plenty of salt on the roads. The t409 has held up pretty well. I found the best deal with an ebay dealer. With the $40 muffler delete pipe it sounds awesome.

i have mbrp aluminized and im in minnesota... i just make a point of it to make a quick spray under the truck everytime i wash it... this is my second winter with it on and not a spot of surface rust on it... Looks as if i installed it yesterday... But the stainless never hurts if ya got the extra change
