EGT probe for sct livewire

So I have seen almost two options for this...

One is to buy the kit... around $179 but...

I keep seeing the analog cable for sale in lots of place. On all the advertisements it says to use with egt probe??? but which one. I can't seem to find anyone that has done this route.

Could i just splice these two options together and it will work???

The box your egt probe plugs into has a FireWire output, use the supplied cable from there into the inline box about a foot from where it plugs into your obd2 port. Select analog input #7 and equation "sct egt"

SCT 4021 Itsx TSX for Android Smartphone Tablet Analog Cable Connector Wiring | eBay

This part is only $40 and it plugs into the livewire module, analog cable

EGT Probe Exhaust Gas Temperature Sensor | eBay

The probe itself is only $50 dollars... that around $90 for the whole kit, unless I am missing something. IDP wants $180 for there kits?

I don't understand why everyone does not just go with the two options above. I was asking if I just splice the two wires together will it work?

Am I missing a piece of the puzzle?

i guess what I am confused about is the sensor mudule (red box in the link provided)... i put and egt guage on my 7.3 and I did not need that?

My idea was just the probe, staight into the analog cable, which plugs into the sct livewire... what is the reason or necessity for the module?

The box is a volt amplifier (0-5v amp). EGT probes (thermocouples) put out millivolts, you need the box to amp up the volts, because the Livewire reads the volts and converts to temp.
