SCT Livewire 9600-SCT ITFX Questions

Ok heres the scenerio. Im about to purchase a 9600 from an awesome guy here on the forum. He previously was running the 9600 on his truck and decided to update to the ITFX so he could use his apple device to monitor. So heres where my confusion comes in.

In order for his truck to take whatever is on the ITFX he would have had to put the 9600 back to stock correct? OR does the ITFX just plug in and monitor what hes already running via the 9600? He mentioned that the truck always overwrites the tuning thats already on the device? So if I understood him right even if the tuner has his stock tuning on it, it would just overwrite it with mine and his would be lost? See the way I understood it, the tuner has to be put back to stock in order to be open to use the next unlock? Can someone please verify where I sit in this situation?

This guy seems really knowledgeable about his truck and I dont doubt him at all I just do not want to have any issues after the PPE issue I had earlier this week.

Thanks

He must return his truck back to stock so the 9600 is unlocked. You also need to know "how many unlocks left" is on the 9600, if "0" then the unit will have to be sent to SCT to be "reset" for a fee ($65).

Here is some reading material on buying a used SCT.

What to look for when buying used SCT for 6.0

It's a iTSX, yes it has canned tunes on it and can hold up to 10 custom tunes. The iTSX is a Bluetooth module that works with iOS devices (apple), the TSX is a Bluetooth device that works with SCT device.
