Talking Store bought or DIY exhaust?

I'm looking at upgrading the exhaust on my 2004 F-350. I'm wondering what the difference is between going to a straight pipe turbo back system from a store or just cutting the cat and muffler and leaving the stock piping in place. The stock pipe is 3.5" at the tail pipe to 4" with a system. And 3" from the turbo to 3.5", I get it that's its better flow and less restrictive but I'm not a 500hp hot rod. I already have a egr delete and oil cooler up grade with a afe air filter in the stock housing with the zoodad mod. What I can save on a exhaust I can get a tuner with. Money is tight but I have a little to work with. Any info would be help full.

I myself got an AFE turbo back exhaust. Its a 3.5 down pipe but after that its a straight 4" system. Flows good and it ran me $240 from amazon with free shipping. Installation went smooth had more of a hard time cutting the old system out.
