Buying Used 6.0 - How to Tell Which Head Gaskets Were Installed

Hi guys - first time post, long time lurker.

I'm looking at a buying used 05 PSD that had ARP studs installed - is there a way to know if OEM or Black Onyx head gaskets were installed?

nope. dumb question but how do you know arps were installed? I'm assuming you found the stud by the passenger side valve cover?

See if there is any paperwork or maybe track down the shop that did the work. I could be wrong here but I think the only way to know is to pull the heads. You can easily tell if it has studs instead of bolts by looking for a nut. Easiest one to see is driver side valve cover.

Thanks for the info guys. The truck is out of state so I have yet to see it in person - the dealer states that ARP headstuds were done so I'll confirm that but wasn't sure if there were any other ways to tell about the actual gaskets used.

That would basically be the one I've circled in the pic?

What you have circled in the pic is the valve cover mounting bolt. It does have studs though. Look just below your circle and you can tell.
