BIG LEARNING EXPERIENCE FOR ME!!

Well it starts off like this,one day trans started acting up after i rebuilt it with what i thought was stock tune. i called Suncoast and let me tell you these guys customer service is off the charts man they are awesome. Anyway i told them the truck is hanging in gear coming to a stop and when it shifts into 4 or 5th depending on temps it neutrals and bangs into gear. Wow i have to take trans out again i say with another call to suncoast know this is 3rd time out to find nothing. i replaced harness to trans and reinstall just to find it does same thing again.By this time im ready to drive truck into a tree!!! So i call suncaost again and the old guy says to me does this truck have stock tune and i said yes!! He said did i program it back to stock with my sct tuner i said yes!! LONG PAUSE!!!! He tells me this is the issue!!!??? Then he tells me to use my IDS to program truck back to stock and do a drive cycle!!! BINGO FIXED the sct somehow currupted my stock file and caused all of this!! so both of my tuners are at SCT AS WE SPEAK!! MAN IM PISSED!!! BUT I WOULDNT USE ANY OTHER PROGRAMMER So lesson learned pay attention when you put truck back to stock and make sure problems didnt start after you returned it to stock! If it can happen to me it can happen to anyone!!

Question: How did the trans act with tunes programmed on it? Would that have been a way to prove out the trans being good??

Hmm, that's the same thing mine is doing.

Can the dealership reflash JUST the tcm and leave the ECM and ficm alone?

I never ran it programmed because it wasnt acting right in stock form. When i originally had a issue with trans it was messed up and clutches where burned bad. So after i rebuilt trans first time it was probably ok but this was a different issue from the first issue! So that is what got me, i thought i did something wrong after first build when it was the stc going back to stock file from that point forward causing the issue!

The IDS is Ford's tool to program and perform diagnostics on the PCM.

You would be better off flashing back with your device then starting from scratch! PCM tcm ficm

Are the new parts you installed ruined as a result of the issues you were having? If so, did you have to purchase parts all over again? Or were you able to catch the issue before it started causing premature failure of the new stuff?
