Which Exhaust ??

A 6.0 Dually passed me on the highway today with dual exhaust and it sounded like the old school 454 with Flowmasters ..real deep rumble that rose to a higher pitch when he was passing but not popping like glasspacks or obnoxious like those freakin dodges !!
anybody got an idea what he might have been running ???

Probably just your typical 6.0 exhaust with a high flow muffler... 6.0's with a muffler will sound like how you are describing, the muffler takes the turbo whistle down and the "drone" is what you hear more of. Thats how my truck was anyways when i first had a muffler on.

Where were you, it might have been me lol

My truck is straight piped, with it y'd after the down pipe into dual 3.5" then into 6" side pipes.

One other thing for you to think of....it might have been a gas burner. It could have been a 5.4 or v10

5.4's sound like chit with exhaust.. They have a unique sound that is not ear catching at all... v-10's on the other hand sound nasty but not a deep rubble like hes talking?

6.0 for sure ...ran besides him for a few miles ...Mine has the whistle ..so if I get a good aftermarket diesel muffler it will sound deeper without the jet sound ??

My 04 is straight piped. Loud, low rumble when cruising down the highway. Jet engine sound at idle. massive whistle and jet engine sound when getting on it hard. I used to have a bully dog muffler on it that sounded similar (it was a straight though design) just milder.

My truck still sounded really good with the 4" magnaflow muffler, just not what I was looking for. I wanted more whistle, out came the muffler replaced by a 4" pipe. Now the muffler just sits in attic until someone buys it or I switch to 5" and sell the whole kit. Just not sure if I'm a fan of the 5". Really like my 4".
