Banks 6 gun with PDA

Hello everyone I'm new to diesels I have owned my f250 for 2 years now bought it from the original owner who just used the truck to drive back an forth from work when I got the truck it had nothing done to it
I have put a 4 inch magnaflow exhaust turbo back on it an a s&b cold air intake on it a friend gave me his banks6 gun with a PDA monitoring system I haven't installed it yet because I'm not sure if it will do what I'm looking for
I mainly haul a horse trailer with it other than that its a daily driver for me
It does have high mileage an that's what has me a little nervous about connecting it but the miles are all high way miles not town mile if that makes any difference the hour meter on the truck reads a little over 5,900
Any thought , info will be greatly appreciated

Does the sct control the transmission because I have been told the banks system doesn't do any transmission adjustments or does the banks adjust the transmission

Yep sct will put a tune on the transmission as well. You really notice a difference with a custom tune.

im sorry but I dont wanna bust anyones SCT bubble... but have you used the gauge to check your temps, and other items to see the health of your newer diesel?

your gonna wanna make sure your going to want to make sure your Engine coolant temp (ECT) and engine oil temp (EOT) are no more then 15 degrees apart. if they are your going to want to fix it right away. best test is to.

1. fully warm up truck
2 cruise above 60 like 65-70 ofr like 10-15 mins. mine is around 6 right now. if its above 15 need to have your oil cooler, possibly egr cooler situation corrected.

would be a bad idea to check your FICM voltage if your scanner can. make sure its above 46 volts.

change the fuel and oil filter with the ford OEM filters they are little more then the autozone crap but worth it in the end by 150%.

install a coolant filter from:
Dfuser
sinister
xdp, A few other but cant remember.

once your truck is all good then run a custom tune.

if you've already done this sorry to waste your time I just hear everyone tellin you to get a tuner first etc...

I have the six gun on mine (come with the truck) banks tech says all the tune does is monitor trans line pressure. No adjustments of any kind
