Trans only tune is used mainly for heavy towing, that said running a canned hp tune without studs is safe. The custom tuners will ask if your studded or not and can build you a better tune than the canned tunes and it will be safe to use. Shift firmer is exactly that it will increase the firmness of the transmission shifts. EGR Off turns off the EGR valve and wont set a code. Under high boost you will still get some blow-by on the EGR valve. BTW I have a trans only tune and I had the programmer use the tow/haul button to set up a Jake brake. Hope this helps.
