Tuning for mpg

So I'm about to start getting tunes just wondering if anyone has had luck with a tune getting good highway mpg I have gotten 23 before almost completely stock. I have heard the high hp tunes are best as long as you can keep your foot out of it. Any truth to that

I'm sorry but I don't see how you got 23mpg stock. Alot of tuned guys don't even get that close. Did you hand calculate that? And yes the highest setting will usually get you the best mpg.

Yea hand calculated that I only had a 4 inch turbo back I would do 5 over the speed limit. It was 97% highway. I just didn't drive the truck hard gunned it maybe once or twice during the drive.

My truck got it's best mileage when I put on an AFE Stage II intake, CFM+ large mounth intake elbow and cold side CAC, Magnaflow 5in turbo back exhaust (w/4in down pipe), and the canned SCT Performance tune. With that setup I was getting over 20 mpg on the hwy and over 18 mpg of mixed driving. And my fuel economy dropped by over 2 mpg. Just before I took my truck down for the work I'm doing to it, I could get 17 mpg with mixed driving on Eric's Xtreme X, my 190/100s, and the Stage 3.5 turbo. It's not bad and not great IMO but I'm good with that.

23mpg is Disneyland. Never...ever heard of anyone getting that kind of mileage with any kind of tune. If that's what you're getting, no point in shooting any higher. It's a truck and its probably weighing north of 7000.

While we are here anyone have any comparisons between looney wild and SPD on mileage? That 23 mpg just sounds ridiculous lol but back when I ran en edge I got north of 20mpg but hand calculated of course so who knows.
