Check engine light when I delete EGR

I understand that when I soon get the EGR fully deleted off my '04 there might not be happiness with the electronics end of it. Now I have the SCT tuner with 3 Gearheads's tunes so do I have to get Gearhead to write me new tunes that will disable any EGR alarms? Or does the SCT have something in the menu that'll do that, (looked but couldn't see anything).
Thanks

NORMALLY the tunner will turn it off inside the tune... if you were to do a canned tune there should be an option in there.... Never hurts to just shoot Gearhead an email and ask.

You could check your DTC's as well, if it was turned off with tuning there should be an EGR code that pops up which is normal. My 04 shoots that code out with the EGR turned off by Vivian with my Looney Tune

Thanks Bowman, I'll ask Gearhead tomorrow. I could care less about a code showing up on the SCT, but I don't want the idiot light on the dash to be on all the time because of the delete.

When I talked to Matt about ordering my tunes he told me that he turns the EGR off in all of his tunes regardless if it had a delete or not.

Most 03-04 trucks will not set the light even if you don't have a tuner. 05 is a split chance of it setting and 06-07 it will set it. That's all without a tuner so u should be fine
