Need some ideas?!?!

I just bought a 2005 6.0 4x4 Lariat and I am looking to beef it up a little. I want to get some more power along with the ability to boost fuel econ. I just want to know what everyone else thinks is the best route...Im open to all ideas...Chips, Bolt-on, Anything! Thanks!

First off, if its not already done I'd looking into an egr delete or BPD cooler...

Then studs if not both.

Flush cooling system...replace oil cooler...then swap to an elc...

Verify ficm is in good health...

Then youll be up to date as far as reliability goes...

As far as performance...tuning is usually the first thing people do...I, and most will, recommend an sct tune with custom tunes. Personally I use idp and quick tricks.

Intake and exhaust are 2 other staples in a good street truck.

If you really wanna get into it look at injectors, aftermarket turbos and beefier than stock transmissions...much over 500rwhp, depending on your driving habits...the stock tranny can't handle it...

What exactly are your rwhp goals? Do you tow? If so how heavy and how often?

I have been looking online at XDP diesel all night checking on things and reading reviews.

1. Which SCT tuner do you prefer?
2. Where should I purchace the Delete and oil cooler from? ( Black Diamond is one I have been told about)
3. Im wanting a exhaust system. I have looked at Banks and MBRP. What are your thoughts?
4. Im looking to get to the 500HP area. I would like to stay stock on the tranny if possible. Im not looking to completly redo everything since it is just a daily driver.
5. What do you think about the BANKS, Bully Dog, or Edge Chips?

Also, If I just do the Chip, Exhaust, Delete, etc...do I need to do the ARP head studs?

Before you spend a dime on any parts, you should get a monitor solution to see how healthy the truck is. After you have found any issues, then start fixing the issues, while you have the motor apart for the found issue, upgrade any OEM parts for your year truck (STC, dummy plugs, turbo oil feed/drain).

500hp area and the programmers you listed wont happen. Stick with SCT and custom tunes.

I completely agree with that statement. It is vital to know what is going on under the hood.

We have the Infinity programmer/monitor that is an all-in-one tool. It will tune, monitor generic and Ford enhanced data, run diagnostic tests(KOEO/KOER, buzz, cylinder contribution, glow plug), read/clear DTC's, datalog, and much more. It is completely customizable, and there is not another product like it available.

Once you get a feeling of how the engine id doing, I would look into an exhaust and coolant filter. You will also want to bulletproof it too.
