Another Exhaust Question

Since I am not in it for the sound and it sounds like there is not a large HP or MPG gain would I be better off saving my money on a 4" system and just putting in a Cat delete and a free flow muffler put onto the stock pipe? If so any recomendations on muffler that flows well but isnt too loud?

I figure a muff shop could do it pretty cheap (I dont weld), maybe the cat as well....

I should add that My main interest if lowering EGTs... (I havent towed with the tuner yet so i dont know what they are now)

And go!

Do the cat delete if you dont have local state emmision testing. And heck you should try running with out a muffler for a bit. I was very suprised how quiet the truck is. I figured it was gonna be LOUD but was very suprised. If down the road the truck gets annoying then Ill take it down a knotch...

I have it striaght piped 4" from the turbo back. Not loud at all, in fact it sounds more like a vacuum than anything else. Only time you hear anything more than stock is when you hammer the throttle but then that sounds awesome and it's still not really noisy in the cab.

Re: Another Exhaust Question

When I first installed my exhaust I was like, holy crap the wife is going to kill me. But inside the cab you can barely hear it. Plus I have an 03, so it has the real loud whistle.

Tuned and towing...I would go with the 4" turbo back for lower EGT's. Mine is an 06 and the EGT's never have gotten out of hand. It cools down very quickly too with a SRL+ tune. When i have the engine back to stock without the tune, it takes longer to cool down.

First day i had my truck, had a muffler shop remove muffler and weld in a straight piece. Fairly quite at idle and normal driving. If u get on it, i has a beautiful growl. Then later i installed a cat delete pipe, bolt in. Sounds even better. a lil louder but not much. I can hear to turbo whistle a lil bit.
