175/75's MTW Stage 2 dyno
Some of you have been following my posts lately about truck problems and it doesn't seem to end with this truck for some reason. Well today was borderline disaster. I got my dyno spot for this event about a month ago and it feels like I've been getting ready for "the big day" ever since. The truck has constantly been in the shop, putting a couple hundred into every week it seems and it still isn't right.
I was planning on using my new tune from Tony Wildman today but I learned on the ride there that the rev limiter wasn't removed. I maxed out at 95mph on the turnpike and lost to a Cummins racing. I loaded a revised tune from Vivian for the 175'75's and the trans would not cooperate. Slamming itself into second gear repeatedly and missing shifts. I put my old SPD tune on that was written for my 155/30's. The whole ride the my truck was puking coolant. It hasn't puked since my last stud job 8 months ago! I just put a brand new NAPA bottle on the truck and the cap litteraly blew off and was laying in my engine bay, Coolant everywhere, white smoke everywhere like I did a huge burnout. I had to stop at the auto parts store and get more coolant. Mixing green with my red because I lost alot. I had an extra cap in the truck and I puked with that one too. I borrowed a cap from a friend at the truck show and made a test run, puked a tiny bit but not like before. The truck only puked at 35psi and once it did the needle went all over the place. I broke my 500rwhp goal so I'm happy and smokeless to boot! But now I have to find out what wrong with this truck. Happy and nervous, I hope its just a cap... 175/75's MTW stage 2 dyno - YouTube Last edited by jwsland; 02-02-2013 at 01:07 PM. |

Well, not sure where my head was when I built that tune, but the one in your inbox has the limiter removed now.

Sounds like a ruff day. I can't believe you still got it Dynoed. Congrats on breaking the 500 mark though. I am wondering where the stage 2 and 175 will put you once you get it all straightened out. Im gonna step up to 190's this spring. Where was the event, and who put it on?

Its all good Tony! Its still an awesome tune!
The event was sponsored by Dirty Diesels club and Hassler Diesel. Couple hundred people there total. A guy actually drove from Canada! |

Congrats on the 500 club bud! Too bad it came at another expense.

you still could've changed the limiter yourself through the SCT's user options before you downloaded the tune.

So that 515 was with the SPD written for 155's? Sounds like a rough day man! Hate to hear your truck is dollaring you to death.

Yeah that was Luke, Jason's repair and performace did my studs last.
I'm using an old x-cal 2, not sure if I can change that I'm pretty limited on options. Yes Dirty_Stroke. |
