Livewire Normal Oil Temps?
Could someone tell me what a "normal" oil temp reading is on a livewire? I'm getting a little nervous because my Coolant temp is around 180 and my oil temp is above 250...Ford told me they should be within 20 degrees of each other.
The Livewire has two PIDs for oil temp and one comes up with an error... |

There should be only a 20* difference in temperatures. Either you have a stopped up oil cooler or an F'd up livewire (which wouldn't be a surprise). 250* for oil temp is screaming hot. Call SCT and ask if they can help you. Tell them your concerns and if they deem your Livewire normal then you should get to a dealer and get it verified. Be aware that an oil cooler from the dealer is about $750 and that they are available on ebay much cheaper if you can change it yourself.

would it be possible that my livewire I'd displaying oil temp in Celcius? When I do the conversion, the temp jives. Actually 20 degrees lower than the coolant.

If it was 250 Celsius, it would be 107 Fahrenheit. Celsius numbers will read lower not higher than Fahrenheit.

my coolant temp stays from 190 to 200 and for some reason my oil temp is always exactly what the trans temp is....is that normal or is something hooked up wrong?

Your EOT is in C.
Check your firmware version and see if there is an update. If your reading the same as the trans, maybe they are pulling the same address. |

I thought the Livewire wouldn't read tranny temp yet. I may be wrong, but that was the last that I heard. You should see 85-93 degrees celsius for ECT with EOT being within 10 degrees celsius of that.

Hey Matt, I believe it does...Livewire draws its info from the OBDII port. So it can see everything the computer does. It can not read EGTs without the probe that you tap in. |

I know I remember seeing on the SCT forums that the Livewire will not read tranny temp yet. It is labeled as such, but it is actually EOT.
