Ficm mod arguably does nothing, tunes can modify any engine parameter. No question - get a tune

I ran the Atlas 40 for over a year. Made a HUGE performance difference and did give me a MPG bump. I just got the PHP FICM tuner to give the Atlas 80 a shot. Short term results show a slightly better performance increase ...MPG still undetermined.

You need to do some additional reading on PCM custom tuning combined with FICM tuning and your trucks current mods. FICM tuning has it's limits but will show gains it just depends on your current setup.

Ive got the ATLAS 80 ficm tune and I beleive that Ive gotten right around a 3mpg bump, better cold morning start up and as far as performance all I can say for sure on that is alot faster turbo spool up.
That being said, Im in the process of taking my old 4 pin and getting the BPD power side and running a atlas 40 tune from ficm repair.com. Im concerned that pulling heavy over the continental divide will be a egt issue with the atlas 80.

Re: is it better to tune ficm or get a sct

What jetjock didnt mention is that every truck is different. It seems like some strategies respond better to ficm tuning then others. It was the 2nd best mod I did after custom tunes. My truck responded very well to ficm tunes.
