Deleted the muffler today!!

Decided to do it. Called around tampa, not many shops deal with 3.5" pipe. Sawzalled the muffler out, and turned the front pipe upward and then it was a straight shot with 3.5" pipe. Turned out pretty good. Sounds AWSOME. Only way you really hear it is when you floor it hard. throttle response is MUCH better. so throttle response and noise are the only 2 improvements I can verify at this time. Cost me $133 out the door. Found that a bit expensive, but... whatever.

next I'll be deleting the Cat, but I think that might be to loud... so the cat will probly stay. I'll try it both ways. Kind of glad I didn't do a 4" exhaust though... I like how responsive the trhorrle is now. I think going bigger might hurt.

Yeah, planning on it. But I can't imagine having to switch up to 4".... man.

Why not?
I'm running 4" straight pipe (didn't have a cat, just deleted the muffler) It sounds good, but not loud UNLESS I open it up. Better throttle response, quicker spool up for the turbo, and lower EGT temps. Plus you get to hear the sweet sound of the exaust wheel! They make a adaptor piece that goes from 3.5" up to 4". Cut the Cat, have the muffler shop put in that piece where the cat was, then 4" all the way out, and you can have it dump before or after the back tire. Look in my gallery at the angle I have my exaust, I love it, and it makes it great for smoking people!

I had my muffler delete done for $80.00 and that included the adaptor piece and pipe from the downpipe to the tailpipe

The bigger you go, the better it will be! It's not like a gas motor that needs back pressure. The faster you can get the exaust gases to exit, the quicker the turbo will spool up, sucking air faster into the air box, pushing it faster through the intercooler, etc. etc..
TRUST! I have a 4" and it isn't any louder than a gasser with a flowmaster when I'm just crusing around.

My system is already done.
Where are you? My hunting partner has an 06 that I'm trying to get him to do the exhaust on.

Definetly the 6.0 sounds sweeeeeeet with muffler and cat delete the whistle is ear peircing you will be happy I was but I have a 7.3.. like malards said the real noise comes from a heavy foot..Just cruising it's not to loud but it has the deep throaty sound.
