tuner and reflash questions
I am a newbiw so be patient. I just bought a 04 f 250 had to put a motor in it but got a great deal on it. Im concerned of the truck having a tune know but not positive of that it has already had full 5 inch exhaust straight pipe off turbo and airraid cold air kit. I want to bye tcs livewire and have custom tune done hoping to go from 15 mpg to at least 19 mpg with tune truck has 315/75/16 tires on it and i installed 06 motor used my old harness and computer. I do really like the truck and plan on keeping it if i can get some good mpg. Im not sure if i need factory computer reflashed or not what do yall think no codes in ecm know and datastream looks good cant get genasys to do cylinder balance check keeps aborting for some reason.

Re: tuner and reflash questions
I've been running 35s on my truck for about 4 years. Maybe living at 4000ft is the problem, but I haven't seen 15 mpg in town since I stepped to 315s. There are all sorts of threads about checks to be made before tuning and what to expect. The SCT Livewire is pretty cool, but will need an EGT and fuel psi added on. The Edge CS/CTS is the same way.
There is a thread about who writes what tunes also. I'm not trying to avoid your questions, but the search engine on this site will be your new bud to find what your are looking for. Sent from my LG-VS700 using AutoGuide.Com Free App |

First off, welcome to the club. As for the power balance, you can get your dealer to do it and it usually runs 1hr worth of labor. While you're there, ask them to read your strategy if you don't have the means to do so yourself. Now, don't take this the bad way, but you didn't buy the truck strictly for gas mileage did you? I mean it's not unreasonable to see 19mpg....on the highway but you won't see that as daily city driving. the other thing to consider is tire size. Tire size, gear ratios, elevation and aerodynamics pay a big role on gas mileage for these big ol' pigs.
Anyways, again, welcome to the club. |
