intake elbow swap

Found a 06 elbow ($40) for my 03. Wondering if anyone has done this, and is it worth it?

You'd have to remove your throttle plate assembly due to the height difference and I'm not sure what issues that may or may not cause with the PCM. With some flash versions even unplugging your EGR valve causes fan clutch engagement issues. Anyway, all you would gain is a cleaner looking engine.

Not worth it on an 03,the throttle plate is just a spacer on an 03.

As already mentioned, the 03 just has the EGR throttle plate housing, no throttle plate involved. Just to be sure, you can unplug one of the connectors to see if there are any electrical prongs. In the pic below, you will see where one of the electrical plugs go, and there is no wiring at all. If you have no wiring, then you don't have a throttle plate. So the only gain will be a cleaner looking engine bay. If you can get the 06 elbow for a good price and want a less cluttered engine bay, then go for it.

Yes, throttle plate- butterfly valve (first pic). Second pic is what the late '04-07 truck elbows look like, less clutter.

Yours shouldn't have the throttle plate, only the late 04's and some early 05's have the throttle plate. Unless the past owned put it in, you should not have one.
