175's

ok so ive read a few posts about people running 175 and 190's with a stock turbo and just defueling the tune. so my ? is if i add a set of 175's with a stock turbo and defuel the tune to work how much power can be expected to gain with that setup.
mods are in sig
thanks
mike

For the cost a modded intake manifold would be better than detuning big injectors. That's like driving 45mph on the HWY with a Ferrari. Since the manifold will help the truck breathe better the sticks and turbo you buy later will gain you even more.

I would buy 175/30s and run them with your stock turbo... Then get a hybrid or stage 2 turbo from Adrian and be happy

Assuming your truck is studded with ARP bolts

If you don't plan on getting a bigger turbo, don't waste your money. If you do, the stg 2 sounds promising or a 362 nonvgt will work. Personally, I wouldn't even use 155's with a stock turbo.

agreed^ how to i know?? haha i got 155cc/30's for my stock turbo and the srl tune i have matt defueled it big time- otherwise it was a smokey pig, all the bad stuff.. Then you ask why did you get the injectors modified? Dad did them for me so i guess im spoiled that way.. When i do my build soon i can unleash these injectors to full capacity on a stage 2 or hybrid..

I've got 175cc/100% Warren Diesel injectors w/ a MTW Stage 2(Billet Wheel). The combo is straight up NASTY! I love and it does great DD and even towing. I had the fuel pulled back on the tow tune and the EGT's are very manageable with a 10,000lb load. I used my stock turbo for about a week while the Stage 2 was en route and let me tell you this....I had to baby the chit out of the truck and it still smoked like crazy.

If you want to get 175s, my advice is to get the turbo first or at the same time as the injectors. Chris, our GPDA president (Super Diesel), had a Stage 2 w/ cast wheel on his '06 CCSB w/ stock injectors and the turbo spooled very well. If you get the billet wheel upgrade(which I recommend) the turbo will spool like stock so you can drive it while saving up for the injectors.
