Rough Idle and noisier with Looney tune......

I loaded DJ's Looney tune this afternoon and when I started it up it idled really rough and was considerably noisier than the canned performance tune on the Xcal3. At lower speeds driving normal it hung on to the gears a little longer than I thought it should. I actually think I like the canned performance tune better.

All the tunes idle louder than stock. I've been told it's due to the more advanced timing. I've never had any roughness on any of DJ's tunes, though. I'd email them and see what they think. As far as the shifting, I didn't like the way it shifted at light throttle, so they wrote a custom one for me, and it's great now. It's really smooth and doesn't smoke when you're driving normally, but it's firm and quick when you get on it.

I also have the LOONEY TUNE on my truck. When it gets cold here, say below 50 degrees or so, it idles really rough when I first start it until it warms up to 130 degrees or so. If it is getting colder where you are at, you might want to get a hold of DJ and have them send you the cold start version of your tunes.

That's the beauty of custom tunes and DJ's is awesome! Give Vivian a call, Dan.

Your tranny may still be "learning" the tune too possibly. It's not an immediate switch with a learning transmission. I would imagine in Michigan your gonna want a cold fix pretty soon for your looney as well.

With my PPE my truck actually starts easier and idles smoother.
