Battery relocation

Anyone seen any good kits. I'm leaning towards the frame rail setup Ford uses on the E-series vans and cab overs.

I thought about getting a tool box for the bed and relocating them there I think that would be a clean setup with a little fab work and some good cable.

Battery relocation

I don't want them in my toolbox, because it's already pretty full. I checked with a local fabricator and it would cost $200 to $300 for a custom steel tray that would bolt to the frame rail. Strength was important because I occasionally go 4 wheeling. Cabling was another $100, because I wanted 00 welding cable so I wouldn't have any amperage loss.

Basically, I'm trying to free up some space under the hood.

Bismic has his "extra battery" on the frame with the e-series box. When I mean extra battery, he has the two in the stock location and another on the frame.

I'm going to mount mine under the rear of the bed where the spare normally mounts. I want to mount four 6volt batteries under there.

This is on my 00 7.3 but the concept is the same. Pair of van boxes, 4/0 wire to the starter/3rd battery and 1/0 for everything else.

Haven't got that far yet but I can get a whole lot more capacity that way over the 12v.
