Programer on two trucks..

Looking to buy a programmer for towing. I have 2 trucks. Can I load the upgrade on one truck and use it, then uninstall and use it on other truck when I need to use the other? Or is it VIN specific?

Thanks

JR

The SCT devises have a limit to how many vehicles it can tune(6 IIRC) so every time you swap between trucks it vinlocks and u loose a use until it's out the reset fee is $150.00 so SCT isn't a choice

As far as I know, all tuners are VIN specific... Gotta buy each truck it's own.

As for tuner choice, get SCT tuners ONLY for your 6.0 vehicles
Your tranny will thank you, and your Head Gaskets.

I also have 2 ford trucks. One 06 6.0L and one 11 5.0L.

Coul I tune the 5.0L once, and then keep the SCT on the 6.0L like normal.

So I would use up 2 out of the 6.

Once you tune one truck the tuner will be VIN locked to that truck. The only thing that you could use the tuner for on a diff truck is to pull DTC codes. So the short answer is no you cant do that.

No, once you put a tune into a vehicle, it locks to the VIN. Then it won't unlock until you return the vehicle back to stock tune.

You can tune the first vehicle as much as you want because the SCT device has stored the VIN.

If you return the first vehicle to stock and use the SCT on another vehicle, then the SCT becomes locked to the second vehicle and uses up one of the "unlocks left". If you return the second vehicle back to stock to unlock the SCT, and goto tune the first vehicle, then the SCT uses up another "unlock".

Depending on which model SCT your using, it only has 3 or 5 "unlock". After all the "unlocks" are used up, you will have to send it into SCT to be reset with "unlocks".
