I am looking to get a ficm tune, but i am wondering what is heavy towing. I pull a mustang from time to time also a boat, would this be to heavy for a atlas 80. also could i just change my sct to the towing tune and that help. I have the extreme street tune from innovative they say no heavy towing with tune also. Whats yalls opinion?

Any towing is too heavy for the 80 tune...

If you tow at all you will see the best benefits with the 40

Also, If you do not have ARP headstuds, I would NOT tow anything over 2k# in Eric's extreme Street tune.... That is the exact reason I just tore into my engine last month

The 80 will spike the egts too much for towing

If you intend on towing anything over 5000k on erics extreme street you are asking for trouble IMO. The extreme street file is not written as a tow tune and will not perform as one.
This paired with any FICM tune when towing anything other than light (< ~5000lbs) i wouldnt do with my truck because of the extreme performance nature of the ECM tune

The 80 does run hotter than the 40, we have seen this time and time again. Not to say it can not be done with the 80 or the Herc file as we have seen it sucessfully done multime times.

If you plan to tow a lot, we would recommend the 40.

I have the Atlas 80 with 190/75s and I can tow with it. I just have to use my brain and watch my EGTs. However, I think that if you are running any ECM tuning, there is no performance benefit to running a higher FICM tune than the Atlas 40. The minimal, if any, increase in performance is not worth the significant increase in EGTs IMO

The only thing I've tried so far, is looney wild with atlas 80, I didn't see any increase in egt's. I struggle to hit 1200 at wot, I have not tried to tow anything with either though.
