intake issues

I put a non vgt on my truck and a few weeks later under hard acceleration it will make a light muffled pop. After the noise i would loose power and gray smoke would pour out. We figured out that it was the soft tube that goes from the air cleaner to the turbo. Im trying to figure out the best solution to replace it with? Thanks for reading and for any advice

With an aftermarket turbo you need an aftermarket intake to take advantage of all the air the turbo can pull. Somebody will probably try to argue that point but think about it, you don't see trucks that make big power running stock intakes. I know you said you have some sort of replacement, but it sounds like you have a kit that just replaces the box that holds the air filter and then connects to the stock intake piping. I know the S&B kit replaces it all. All the way to the turbo. I recommend checking into one of there intakes.
