Superchips 1805 Won't Communicate with ECU

So, I bought a cleared, used Superchips 1805 tuner (mostly for economy), but after it goes through its cycles, it brings back a "cannot establish communication with ECU." Does this mean I need to update/reflash my truck? Would I have the same situation with an SCT X3 or SF3 tuner? This is, of course, for my '03 6.0...

Bump. Anyone have any insight? I'm definitely going to order an SCT (the iPhone compatible version), but I'm worried about ECU communication. Has anyone else had a similar issue with an '03 truck? Someone locally suggested my DEI alarm might be interfering with the tuner communication... I'm scratching my head on this one...
