What to do first?
I have a 2005 f350 6.0 about 30,000 miles owned it since new. After reading all the post on here for a long time I am finally thinking of adding some after market stuff to my truck. I recently put on a set of 325/65/18 pro comp extreme At's and I have been looking to go with a sct livewire. But I am not sure if I should go with a new airfilter and/or exhaust. I've also been reading about injectors and wonder if it would be worth it to hold off on the sct and go for injectors first.
I have no plans to drag race or sled pull and i want the truck to remain as reliable as I can. If I do any of these mods will i need to do head studs? I also don't have the money to buy every thing at one time (injectors,sct,ect...) I drive the truck about 4 miles round trip a day for work but put several trips a month to my house in Vermont with family 300mi each way. let me know what you experienced guys think thanks |

well the sct livewire covers both a tuner and gauges. then just keep the current head bolts and gaskets til they go then add studs. injectors are expensive but you could do studs at the same time.

I would say 4" Straight pipe or at least Cat delete, followed by a zoodad and then the Livewire.

gauges and coolant filter first. imo.

I would say exhaust, sct and gauges. The stock air box is as good as any aftermarket airbox out there. I am still running the stock airbox on mine. I also have the zoodad mod. Injectors are nice. If you are wanting more horsepower then I would stud it before getting to extreme with tuning. That is just my opinion.

How many miles too the gal. are you getting with those tires?

I'm getting about 12 mpg city driving (back and forth to work) and 18 mpg highway (about 75-80 mph)

If i do the livewire first am I putting reliability at risk. With the exhaust I don't want the truck to run any louder than it already is. I don't mind a little bit of sound but i would be weary of deleting the cat and muffler.
And if anyone is in NJ can you send a PM of a good performance Ford dealership? |

Whats up man, We are in the same boat I guess. I just joined the elite here at POWERSTROKE.ORG with the purchase of a marroon and gold, '05 F-350 CC Lariat and haven't done a thing to her. But i got my eye on a couple mods tho'. I'm thinking of starting out ALL Bully Dog, with the PMT then the rapid Air Intake and a 5" X-haust. Soon after the basics are covered I'm lookin at a CFM+ large mouth plenum and then a larger intercooler. Then I want to bump up my injectors and get the water methenol injection. after all that I'll see how long my tranny lasts. HAHA And if that doesn't do it I'm gunna hit up a new turbo. I hope im on the right track and I guess y'all would be the ones to ask! huh? Just a Texas boy with a big toy.
