Only use SCT on the 6.0. Check out the search function and you'll find the answers to most of your questions.

Do yourself a favor and stay away from Banks/edge/bullydog/etc. for the 6.0

SCT X3 with CUSTOM TUNES ONLY will fare you well

IIRC the banks w/ iq runs about $999

SCT X3 with custom tunes $450 from most tuners.

$350 for an insight CTS (gauges)

=$800

Cheaper than banks and a far superior setup.

Why do you say its "because of that programmer"?

How many of them are at his house.. shop ...whatever for oil coolers, egr deletes and/or studs?

are they using the canned SCT tunes? custom tunes are totally different. SCT is the only tuner that can tune the transmission on a 6.0 and that makes a big difference.

As said by someone else, use the search function on this topic and you will find that anything other than SCT is inferior for the 6.0. I don't know anything about your "mechanic" but there are Ford Techs on here along with thousands of other people that do their own wrenching. Probably every single one of them uses an SCT, if they have any tuning on their truck.
