sct messing up

last week i was taking a road trip to new orleans so i was giong to return my truck to stock to make the journey so did that without a problem then while i was driving i nailed it to see what stock felt like again and it took off in a huge cloud of black smoke so i pulled over and programmed it to tow 50hp and after it was done i started it up and it kept on almost dying and the light on the dash that looks like a coil kept coming on i have no idea whats going on with this anyone out there

sounds more like a problem with the truck and not the sct. did you put it back to stock after you put it into the tow program?

i put it back to performance and it worked fine

i just updated the firmware and im going to try again tomorrow

hmmmm, the " coil " light kept coming on? that is the glow plug light, i wonder if the glow plugs or the control module is going out??

That is the exact problem I had with my xcal 3. only performance tune would work everything else the truck wouldn't run, it would idle extremely rough and the coil light and low fuel light would blink and then die. Call SCT they will fix it for you. They are having alot of problems with the Xcal 3. What happened was it somehow erased the stock tune so they had to write me a stock tune and had me update the firmware. After about 4 or 5 calls I got it all straightened out.

So stay away from the Xcal 3? Atleast untill they have the bugs sorted out? Guess I will be getting an Xcal 2 next week instead of the 3
