just got my 2004 f350. performance questions

I just got this very nice look 04 f350 6.0L with 17000 miles on it and it is bone dry performance wise. first thing I am going to do is put a new set of headers on it then delete the egr. I am planning on getting a sct tuner and I was seeing what custom tunes y'all would recommend.

You need to start with a monitor solution first. Find out how healthy your motor is. You may find that you need to replace several key parts to get it up to par. Then while you have the motor apart to fix any issue, you can update some of the OEM parts to prevent future repairs.

Read these links over, then start asking questions.

17,000 miles on an 04???? So the previous owner did 2k miles per year??
Great find if its true mileage, but the first thing I'd do is pull the turbo and clean it because they don't usually like to sit (so I hear).

yeah the guy already had 4 powerstrokes so he wanted to get rid of one. and he used it to go to flordia. that's what I was thinkin jus clean everything out good and do the delete and head studs. plus it was a older man so I'm sure it was dogged hard, even though 6.0's dislike that. still feel like I got a steal

i recently bought a fairly low mileage 04, 62000 miles BONE STOCK !!!!!! i use a scangauge2 for most items, and my truck seems healthy, i am running GEARHEAD tunes ( from Matt ) and love it. mine are for NON studded trucks, and so far his 8k tow tune is an awesome DD tune. great power and great mileage. my near future is exhaust and egr delete, coolant filter and possibly better oil filtration .
